Grinergy signs supply agreement for XNO®

Next-generation fast-charging ‘XNO Battery’ to be launched in the second half of the year.

Korean battery start up Grinergy announced on July 10, 2025, that it has signed a supply agreement with UK’s advanced battery materials company Echion Technologies for it’s XNO®️ anode material.

The agreement ceremony was officially held at the ‘12th International e-Mobility Expo (IEVE 2025)’ held in Jeju and was signed with key officials from both companies in attendance. Through this agreement, Grinergy will apply Echion’s niobium-based anode material XNO®️ to the next-generation fast-charging battery system it is developing. XNO®️ is a next-generation anode material based on niobium that simultaneously implements high output, excellent thermal stability, and fast charging.

The XNO® battery using this material is evaluated as an innovative technology that guarantees fast charging and long life even in extreme environments and overcomes the limitations of existing graphite materials. In particular, the XNO® battery is expected to have an energy density that is improved by more than 50% compared to the existing LTO (lithium titanate) battery, and the cost is expected to be reduced by more than 20%. A Grinergy official said, “XNO®️ is the core of the high output and high reliability battery solution that we are pursuing,” and “With this contract, we plan to launch XNO®-based battery products in earnest starting in the second half of 2025.” In particular, the company aims to quickly enter markets that require high-speed charging and discharging and high safety, such as the railway, defence, and logistics industries.

“The collaboration with Grinergy is a very important milestone in accelerating the global commercialisation of XNO®️,” said Jean de la Verpilliere, CEO of Echion Technologies. “We look forward to working together to provide sustainable and innovative solutions in the global battery market.”

Meanwhile, Grinergy has once again proven its unrivalled technological competitiveness in the field of rapid charging batteries by winning the CES Innovation Award in 2023 and being selected as the Technology Innovation Award winner at IEVE 2025. The company plans to continue to accelerate the early mass production and global market entry of ‘XNO® batteries’ through collaboration with leading domestic and international companies and research institutes.
