THE CHALLENGE
Mining runs on productivity. Batteries have to keep up.
Heavy mining equipment operates around the clock, in conditions that destroy conventional battery chemistries. Standard LFP and NMC batteries charge too slowly, degrade too quickly under sustained high-rate cycling, and cannot sustain performance across the temperature extremes of open-pit or underground operations. LTO handles the duty cycle — but its low energy density means large, heavy, expensive packs.
XNO® matches LTO on safety and fast-charge performance, at significantly higher energy density and lower cost. The result: a smaller, lighter battery that lasts longer and costs less over the vehicle's operating life.

Hybrid-electric retrofit
for surface haul trucks
The fastest route to electrification for large surface haul trucks is hybrid retrofit — integrating a high-power XNO® battery system into an existing diesel vehicle during a standard maintenance cycle. No new infrastructure. No operational change. The vehicle continues to run on diesel, with the battery recovering regenerative braking energy and providing power boost — reducing fuel consumption by 15–40% depending on terrain and duty cycle. Payback period at fleet scale is under two years.

Underground BEV
– eliminating battery swap
Underground BEV adoption is accelerating, driven by the significant ventilation cost savings of eliminating diesel underground. The operational bottleneck with current LFP and NMC systems is charging speed — requiring two to three battery packs per vehicle. XNO® eliminates battery swap entirely. One pack charges in minutes during a normal operational break, sustaining continuous shifts with no swap overhead.

Full battery-electric
surface vehicles
For full BEV surface operations with opportunity charging available, XNO®'s high charge rate enables the battery to be sized precisely for power — with rapid top-up charges during natural breaks recovering range continuously. A smaller, lighter pack than LFP for equivalent operational performance.
