Echion and InoBat sign MoU to formalise strategic partnership

Echion has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with InoBat, Europe-based pioneering supplier of premium electric vehicle (EV) batteries. The agreement formalises a collaboration to explore how Echion’s XNO® anode material and InoBat’s proprietary battery technologies can be combined to improve performance and deliver differentiated, high-performance batteries.

The collaboration guarantees the supply of Echion’s niobium-based anode material, XNO®, as well as access to Echion’s electrochemistry support for cell design. InoBat will soon begin utilising its pioneering research and development facilities to explore the benefits of XNO®, which has the capabilities to unlock lithium-ion batteries that can safely charge in less than ten minutes, maintain high energy densities even at low temperatures, and deliver high power across a cycle life of more than 10,000 cycles.

InoBat cells and technologies deliver a level of energy density that is markedly superior to other mainstay batteries. This results in lighter, smaller batteries with the ability to charge at faster rates, providing significant improvements in efficiency; attributes which can all be delivered and improved upon by utilising XNO® anode materials.

Ben Ting, Chief Commercial Officer at Echion, commented: “InoBat and Echion share an ambition to innovate quickly to impact the global battery industry. Through this shared vision, we are confident that our collaboration will deliver innovative, sustainable batteries, fit to revolutionise electric heavy-duty vehicles. We’re excited to see InoBat’s innovative R&D capabilities in action and we look forward to working together to achieve our shared goals.”

Iain Wight, Chief Commercial Officer at InoBat, said: “Echion Technologies XNO® anode materials have the potential to make a significant impact in the decarbonisation of mass transport, manufacturing, freight and beyond, and it is gratifying to have established a formal relationship for our collaboration. InoBat is committed to working with industry leading innovators and I am looking forward to exploring what can be achieved by combining both companies’ technologies and expertise. Echion has also taken steps to create a supply chain for its materials that is as sustainable as possible, aligning closely with our ‘cradle-to-cradle’ company ethos.”

Echion’s niobium-based anode material, XNO® delivers lithium-ion battery performance highly suited for industrial, commercial, and high value applications that demand the highest up-time, lowest total cost of ownership and maximum performance. Applications powered by XNO® include battery electric and hybrid trains, mining haul trucks, high-demand buses, and delivery vehicles as well as applications in motorsport and space.
